A healthier way to do business
Get the Akos advantage
For you, for them, for everyone
Accidents happen. Fortunately, Akos is there to help you move forward. The current workers’ compensation system generates a large number of claims, resulting in high premiums and unfavorable E-Mod ratings for the employer. Many workers’ compensation cases can be resolved without a physical visit to the emergency room or urgent care facility.
With Akos, employees virtually consult with a healthcare provider at the time of injury through a smartphone or tablet on our HIPAA-compliant platform. In addition to offering immediate medical care anywhere, anytime, Akos has designed an intuitive and streamlined user interface that is simple to navigate. The workflow is customized according to state regulations for workers’ compensation claims.
Businesses benefit from Akos
The injured employee reports the injury to their supervisor, who in turn advises the employee to call Akos, their workers’ compensation healthcare provider.
The employee creates an account profile that is connected to their employer database. Here they can enter a brief medical history including current medications, allergies and pre-existing medical conditions.
During triage, the employee connects with a nurse who is specialized in workers’ compensation cases and works under the supervision of a physician. That nurse then triages the employee and determines the best care path. If the nurse confirms the injury is treatable via telemedicine, all the necessary information will be gathered and entered into our HIPAA-compliant platform. If the injury can be treated with first-aid, the nurse will provide a treatment plan and a workers’ compensation claim will not be generated.
Should the injury require care beyond first-aid, the nurse will transfer the call to a board-certified provider experienced in occupational medicine who will diagnose the injury and provide a treatment plan. The state Industrial Commission form will be completed during the consult and Akos will electronically forward the regulatory paperwork to all stakeholders.
If needed, the employee may be referred for an in-person visit with an Akos Preferred Provider Network physician, a specialist, PT/OT services or ancillary service provider.
